Comparison Is The Thief of Joy | YOU DON'T HAVE THE FULL PICTURE | Nakeshia Shannon
Growing up, I was always taught that "Comparison is the Thief of Joy." This saying was often repeated to us because when we compare our situation to others, we can feel inferior or unworthy simply because, from their perspective, our goals seem unlikely. But I'm here to tell you that YOU DON'T HAVE THE FULL PICTURE.

Think about Olympic athletes earning medals. We see the moments of glory, but what we don't see are the 5+ years of relentless dedication, early mornings, late nights, and countless sacrifices that got them there. We see the END RESULTS, not the journey.
Homeownership is similar. You might see friends, family, or colleagues buying homes and feel a pang of inadequacy. You see the shiny new house, the key handover, and the celebratory posts on social media, but you don't see the full picture of their journey to get there.
What you don't see are the years of saving, the sacrifices made, the sleepless nights spent worrying about finances, the meticulous planning, and sometimes even the failures and setbacks. Everyone's path to homeownership is unique, shaped by their circumstances, decisions, and timing.

Comparing your journey to someone else's can be discouraging and unproductive. Instead, focus on your own path and progress. Set realistic goals, make informed decisions, and celebrate your milestones, no matter how small they may seem.

Remember, the goal isn't just to own a home but to achieve it in a way that is sustainable and fulfilling for you. Don't let the highlight reels of others' lives steal your joy or deter you from your path. You have your journey, and that is something to be proud of.
let's talk. Let's go on YOUR journey together.
